Please excuse the mess

I've been updating the code on the NBA Geek a lot lately.  Some stuff may not be completely ironed out, or work perfectly; for example if you are on a small screen the comments will probably now look a little out of whack.  And nobody but me can upload an avatar picture yet, either, sorry.  It's not an attempt to make my comments stand out, it's just that I haven't gotten to that functionality yet.

I have at least fixed comments so that they preserve line breaks, meaning that you can actually use paragraphs and have it show up in the comment now :).

Stay tuned for more updates soon, I hope. In the mean time let's all pray for the quick recovery of the Peksecutioner, without whom the Timberwolves won't get above .500 (if you had said in the preseason that I would say that non-sarcastically this year...wow).

You probably mean the website code, but there is something a little the matter w/ your wp48 code as well, or at least there is based on Shelvin Mack's player page here. He has a *higher* WS48 than an average point guard, but you show him with a *lower* WP48 than average.

Because this calls into question something pretty central to the site (which btw I love!), I want to demonstrate the point. Per 48:

Mack scores 4.7 fewer points -- ok, he's down 4.7
But he shoots 2.4 fewer times -- so he's down 2.3
And he takes 2.1 fewer FTs -- now he's down 1.25

How about the other stuff? Per 48:
Mack commits .9 fewer fouls -- still down but only .8
He gets .5 fewer steals -- uh oh, now he's down 1.3
He gets .4 fewer blocks -- now down 1.5
But Mack has 1.2 *fewer* turnovers -- he's only down .3
Still he garners 1.4 fewer assists -- so he's down 1.0
Finally, Shelvin Mack gets 1.5 *more* rebounds than an average point guard.

In other words, his WS48 is .5 *above* average -- so... how does he wind up w/ a .77 WP48 vs. .99 for an average point guard? Given the strong correlation between ws48 and wp48 (given that we compare players at the same position), he should be *above average* not below average.

A head-scratcher, huh? I rely on you for reliable wp48 rankings; maybe I can't do that?
