STRANGE SENTENCES

Over at SheridanHoops, they have a run-down of the 2012 free agent class. It's mostly the stuff you'd expect -- Steve Nash is still really good, Deron Williams will make a lot of money, etc.

But I found this sentence to be....confusing:

He can still score with the best of them but his .384 shooting – his lowest since his 2000-01 rookie season – is cause for concern.

So I guess when he says "the best of them," he really means "the worst of them"?  Or maybe this is just another case of a journalist mistakenly believing that you get extra points for athleticism and/or looking good when you score.

Are they disciples of PER? That's the one context I can think of where that sentence makes any sense. Whoever that guy is, he just needs to shoot more at the same %, and his PER will go up.
