I ran out of time. Soon, I will be far too busy screaming at a blank screen that should be showing me a game on League Pass Broadband to do any more season previews (and they aren't previews anymore then, right?). But still, I haven't really covered all the surprises, so here are a few quick hits.
The dust has (almost) settled on the 2012 offseason. I think it's time for us to look at the best and worst contracts of this season. It seems like every year, several teams are looking to unload "bad" contracts. We often forget that teams weren't just magically saddled with those bad contracts; somebody volunteered to pay them.
My early running candidate for worst GM of the 2012/13 season has a huge head start, if the reports are true. It's Rod Thorn in a landslide. If twitter don't lie, the Sixers plan to use the amnesty clause on Elton Brand and his $18 million dollar contract. They also plan to sign Nick Young to a one-year deal worth about $6 million dollars, and to renounce their rights to Lou Williams. And rumours abound that they are looking to trade Andre Iguodala.
So while reading the Truehoop First Cup today I came across the curious bullet point about some guy in Philadelphia, who on some talk show tried to offer some half-hearted half-assed explanation for what's wrong with Evan Turner. And as I read the quoted part of the article, I just grew more confused:
So the surprise team of the season so far are the Philidelphia 76ers. And everyone seems to be struggling to figure out why. Today on Truehoop Bullets, Henry Abbott asks:
